NXP and iWelcome were delighted to jointly win KuppingerCole’s award for the Best Cloud Security Project at its 2014 European Identity Conference. The prestigious awards honour outstanding identity management and Cloud computing projects. The award for Best Cloud Security Project recognises iWelcome’s hybrid IDaaS delivery model and its significance as a European Identity and Access Management as-a-Service (IDaaS) provider.
Cloud based IDaaS
The NXP/iWelcome IDaaS project is an excellent example of how Identity and Access Management (IAM) is evolving in hybrid scenarios. Large enterprises have invested a vast amount of money in on-premise IAM projects. At the same time they are confronted with rapid changes in the IT environment, including the adoption of Cloud applications, external users requiring access from un-controlled devices and the challenge of increasing security, compliance and governance requirements. These challenges cannot sufficiently be addressed by on-premise IAM. The only answer is a hybrid solution that combines on-premise IAM for legacy applications with a Cloud based IDaaS.
NXP deployed iWelcome’s IDaaS to provide Single Sign-On (SSO) access to Cloud applications, strong two-factor authentication for employees, and federation with business partners. The iWelcome IDaaS is connected with NXP’s on-premise IAM provisioning service and also provides secure SSO access to numerous Cloud applications (including application such as Salesforce, Box.NET, Ariba, ServiceNow and Microsoft) for over 23,000 users worldwide.
Why iWelcome is rewarded for this position?
According to KuppingerCole, the project achieved the Best Cloud Security Project award based on the fact it demonstrates a viable and excellent solution for all organisations with IAM solutions that are facing similar challenges. KuppingerCole’s analysts pointed out that in the future, IAM will turn towards hybrid and IDaaS centric models, and that iWelcome’s solution is quick to deploy, standards-based and 100% European.
