The most comprehensive GDPR research

iWelcome has put organisations throughout Europe to the test on GDPR-compliance in customer interaction. We performed several assessments in the year towards GDPR and once GDPR had come into force. Over the months, we've seen some interesting developments. A lot of organisations implemented the basics in the months towards May 2018, but the more complex issues as 'consent', 'privacy by default' and 'data retention periods' still lag behind.

After the great success of our European research we were curious to see if other parts of the world are following suit and becoming more privacy-savvy as well. So we also assessed 50 US organisations.

Please find our research reports on the Resources section.

CIAM vs. GDPR checklist

On 25 May 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came in full force for all organisations that control and/or process personal data of EU citizens. With little time left on the clock, there is no time to waste for organisations that process or control personal data.

For a large part, GDPR is about how organisations gather, store, protect and manage the lifecycle of that data. And that is exactly where Consumer Identity & Access Management (CIAM) solutions fit in.

It is important to emphasise that not all requirements set by GDPR apply to CIAM. Think of important elements as the appointment of a Digital Privacy Officer (DPO), employee awareness training and the set-up of a Privacy policy.

Instead, at iWelcome we have identified eight important GDPR topics organisations must address with IAM to be GDPR compliant.
